No, you do not need a partner. During our classes we rotate partners throughout the class, and at our socials our friendly Blues community will get you up on the dance floor!
-
Whatever you like! We recommend wearing something you are comfortable moving in. Flat shoes with less grip are generally easier to dance Blues in.
-
No problem! Come along to one of our Blues fundamentals classes and we’ll get you having fun.
If you’re new to Blues dancing and come to one of our events, let us know and our friendly organizers and volunteers can help you out.
We’re also happy to recommend other dance styles, events, and organizations.

It’s up to you! Blues partner dancing has two different roles – leader and follower. The leader initiates the shapes and momentum of the dance, and the follower responds to these ideas, with their own interpretation and creativity; to which the lead in turn responds.
These roles are not gender specific and many Blues dancers in Sydney learn both roles, so they can dance with everyone.
You can also dance Blues solo! Dancing with a partner is entirely optional.
